2009 has been a challenging year for most small businesses and the OK 5 team is no exception. Some of our businesses have grown slightly, some have only maintained and a few have felt the loss of significant revenues. All of us are still together however, and there's one primary reason why: We've managed the heck out of our expenses. It's amazing how much a small business can cut expenses when it puts its mind to it. As a matter of fact it begs the question, if we can cut expenses when our backs are to the wall, why can't we do the same thing when times are good? Imagine how much more profitable we'd be. Imagine how much more money we could stash away to get us through the down times. My hope for 2010 and forward? That everlasting expense control is a lesson all OK members retain for many years to come. Mary Schell |
