Swat Teams
SWAT is an acronym for Special Working Advisory Team. SWAT teams are teams of highly qualified small business owners, consultants and outside professionals assembled on a one-time basis to assist a Problem Solving Team member in resolving a severely demanding problem.
From time to time OK Problem-Solving Team members may confront issues of such complexity that their team of peers will be unable to provide workable solutions. In such instances team Facilitators may request that the Executive Director convene a SWAT team for that member.
The Executive Director will then select three to eight SWAT team members, including him or herself as the meeting Facilitator, and including at least one of the team member's regular Facilitators. Additional SWAT team members will be selected from throughout OK membership as well as from the at-large business and professional community. This SWAT team will be selected on the basis of their knowledge of the subject matter in question and, in effect, will be an "all-star team" of advisors, with specific or general knowledge that goes well beyond that of the typical Problem Solving Team member. The assemblage of such concentrated knowledge can provide a vastly expanded opportunity for effective one-time problem solving.
In addition to members of the at-large business community, SWAT team members can include such professionals as accountants and CPAs, tax preparers, attorneys, business brokers, environomental specialists, politicians, bureaucrats, etc. A SWAT team is always an ad hoc group, once the team has met and (hopefully) resolved the problem, the team will be disbanded.
Annual Meeting
Once a year OK hosts an Annual Meeting for all of its Problem-Solving teams, Sponsors, and Facilitators. This meeting offers an opportunity for team members to meet and network with members from other teams. The meeting also offers OK management the occasion to review for members the past year, preview the upcoming year and entertain suggestions and comments from the membership-at-large.
